A: No, these are available via CFA Institute in the US.
Q: Are there study groups and how do I enroll?
A: Each year, CFAS runs a ‘review’ course for Level 1 candidates to assist them with exam preparations. The course runs over 7 weeks and includes access to the CFAS Practice Exam at the completion of the course. Candidates must enrol to take part and this enrolment form can be found on the CFAS website under ‘CFA Review Course’ on the home page.
Q: Where can I find a calculator and how do I get technical support for the calculator?
A: CFAS understands that prescribed calculators can be purchased through some OfficeWorks and Dick Smith Electronics stores. Alternatively, you may be able to contact http://www.blueswimmer.com/ For technical support regarding the calculator please contact the manufacturer.

Q: How do I become a member of the CFA Society of Sydney?
A: In order to become a regular or affiliate member of CFAS you must first become a member of CFA Institute. When you apply to join CFA institute select your local society. You must also complete the sponsorship requirements. Learn more about sponsorship requirements here.

Q: I am a member of the CFA Insitute, does that mean I’m automatically a member of the CFAS as well?
A: No. You are invited to apply for membership of CFAS. However your membership of CFAS is considered separately.
Q: What is the cost of CFAS membership?
A: Currently the cost is US$75 per year.

Q: What is the difference between the CFA Society of Sydney and the CFA Institute?
A: The CFA Institute is a global membership organisation that awards the Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA) designation. The CFA Institute provides information on:

The CFA Society of Sydney (CFAS) is a Sydney based member society of the CFA Institute and provides for candidates:
- Schweser Study materials: an easy way to order the most requested study materials produced by Schweser.
- Practice Exam: an opportunity to simulate the exam conditions prior to the actual exam.
- Review Course: a Level 1 'Review Course' consisting of 36 hours of expert tuition held over six Saturdays.
The CFA Society of Sydney provides for members:
- Educational Seminars: continuing education by holding a variety of educational seminars which also provide networking opportunities.
Q: I used to receive emails from CFAS, but my email address has changed and I’m no longer getting them. How do I update my contact details?
A: CFAS contacts its members and CFA candidates using information held in the CFA Institute database. Each candidate/member must update their own details through the CFA Institute website.
Q: I have never received emails from CFAS but would like to. How to I add my name to this mailing list?
A: Due to privacy laws, candidates need to advise the CFA Institute they wish to receive information from their local society. Simply contact the CFA Institute on info@cfainstitute.org and ask them to add you to your local society mailing list.

Q: How long will it take for my Schweser order to be fulfilled?
A: Once your order is received, it will be fulfilled within 10 working days. You will be notified via email once your order has been dispatched.
Q: What is the difference between ordering Schweser products through CFAS rather than through Schweser directly?
A: The products themselves are identical. By ordering through CFAS, the advertised price includes the product and shipping fees from the US. It also includes the courier cost of sending the product to you anywhere within Australia. Please note: not all these charges are included in the price quoted by Schweser.
Q: What if I want to order a Schweser product not being offered through the CFAS?
A: CFAS is only able to offer limited Schweser stock. To order Schweser products not offered by the CFAS, visit www.schweser.com
Q: Can I collect Schweser orders from the office?
A: CFAS is not a shopfront and only dispatches orders via courier.
Q: What time of year does the new Schweser stock become available?
A: Usually, the new Schweser products are available each year around November/December.
Q: I have not yet received my CFA candidate number. Can I purchase Schweser products through CFAS without it?
A: Yes, you can place your order with CFAS without your candidate number.
Q: Can I use the same study material that I bought for the June exam for the Level 1 December exam?
A: Yes. The material is updated annually. For example study materials bought in 2009 will be relevant for the whole year. If you are taking the exam in 2010, it is recommended that you purchase the 2010 specific study materials when they become available later in 2009.
